January 24, 2008. Our first set of questions come from Lucie from Ottowa Canada. Lucie conducts a mini interview, asking some questions that surely most of you fans have been curious about. So here we go...
Lucie: What are some of the artists that have
influenced you the most musically?
Niki: I pull from so
many artists and listen to all kinds of music. But the
main influences for me and my music are groups like
Sublime, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jefferson Airplane,
Gwen Stefani, and Sheryl Crow.
Lucie: How would you say that your style of music has
evolved over the years?
Niki: I continually evolve as a
person, with new experiences and new environments. I
believe all these things affect me and when i sit down
to write a song I use all that is running through my
head. If it happens to be slow and moody or happy and
energetic, it's really just how I feel that day and
what is on my mind. But I can definately say growing
up and becoming more mature translates into my lyrics
and also my music.
Lucie: Where do you get the inspiration for the great
lyrics you write?
Niki: Most the time I will have some
idea running through my head, like a hook. Whether
it's actually a physical experience I've had myself or
something my imagination has been playing with. I like
to take the perspective of someone other than myself
as well and pretend and create within that mindset. It
makes for an interesting song. INTERVIEW CONTINUED >>>
